1. One of the sonatas by J. Haydn or W. A. Mozart or one of the following sonatas by L. v. Beethoven: Op.2/1, 2,3, op.7, op. 10/1, 2,3, op.13, op. 14/1, op.22, op. 26, op 27/1,2, op 28, op.31/1,2, 3, op.78. |

2. Two Etudes, one of which by Chopin (Works excluded see below.) and one by Liszt or Rachmaninov or Debussy or Skrjabin or Ligeti |

3. A piece of music composed after 1970 (own compositions being excluded) |
Second Round
|
Pieces to be prepared for the second round: (playing time max. 60 minutes) |
| 4. A sonata for piano by Franz Schubert (Works excluded see below.) |
|
5. An opus or a cycle or a group of works of a min. of 20 minutes playing time, composed between 1825 and 1950. |
| For the first and second round exclusively original works are admissible, adaptations will not be accepted. |
Third Round
|
Pieces to be prepared for the third round (playing time max. 70 minutes) |
|
6. A program at your free choice, including one opus composed prior to 1750 (Pieces having been prepared for the 1st and 2nd round shall be excluded) |
|
7. A composition especially ordered for the Bremen Piano Contest 2009 of approx. 5 minutes playing time which will be made available to the contestants in July 2009 together with the certificate of admission to the Contest. |
Finale

Exclusion is being made of the following works:
Chopin – the three Etudes without opus number as
well as Etude opus 10 No. 6.
Schubert – Sonatas D 157, D 279, D 459, D 557, D 566, D 840 .
The contest program must be played from memory.
Except for the composition especially composed for the Contest and to be played during the 3rd round.
Participants are kindly requested to inform us about their precise time data of their contest program (including those in relation to the individual movements)!
